What is a brand identity vision board?
Your vision board is a collection of inspirational images that are geared toward your business aesthetic/personality and identity goals. This board can include a variety of images and graphics. Think of it as a digital bulletin board.
How do I make my vision board?
The easiest way to make your vision board is through
Pinterest. If you have a Pinterest account, simply create a new board entitled "Script." If you don't have a Pinterest account, signing up is easy and free. Once you're in your account, you can start searching for logos and images that you like.
If Pinterest isn't your thing, you can also save images found on the internet in a Dropbox or Google Drive folder.
What should be included in my vision board?
Your vision board should include a variety of images (however, try to keep your board to fewer than 25 images):
1. Imagery that connects with your brand goals. (~3-5 images)
• Be specific about the aesthetic/personality you want to create and choose images based on emotion. (photography styles, interior design styles, products, packaging styles, patterns etc.)
• When you think about your brand's impact we imagine you have a specific look and feel in mind. Whatever that aesthetic is, only include imagery that reflects the aesthetic you want to create.
2. Typography/Fonts (~3-5 images)
• Provide images that focus on the typography style that you'd like to work toward for your logo. Does the style align with your business aesthetic/personality goals? If so, add it to the board!
Please make sure it's clear on your board what direction of type you are going for.
3. Iconography (~3-5 images)
• If you would like to include an icon in your logo, this step is for you. When adding icon samples think about the style (outline, silhouette, hand drawn, rustic, minimalistic, etc.) of the icon instead of the image it portrays (a bird, a plane, superman) - does the style align with the aesthetic/personality goals for your business?
• If you have a specific image you'd like your icon to portray please provide specifics under the icon question in the questionnaire.
4. Color palettes (~3-5 images)
• Think about the types of colors that evoke the specific emotional response and personality that you want your brand to evoke and add a few of those to your vision board.
You will be prompted to link your Pinterest vision board later in this questionnaire. If you choose to create your vision board outside of Pinterest, please email it to your Account Executive.
